Goldendoodle – Complete Guide for Future Guardians
The Goldendoodle (also spelled 'golden doodle' or colloquially 'doodle') is a hybrid breed that has won the hearts of families worldwide over three decades. Combining the intelligence and low shedding of the poodle with the empathy and cheerful character of the golden retriever, the Goldendoodle has become the dream therapy and family dog.
At Doodlove Breeding, we specialize in mini and medium sizes and F1B and multigen lines, ensuring predictable temperament and allergy-friendly coats.

Breed History
The Goldendoodle originates from the same idea as the Labradoodle: to create an allergy-friendly service dog. Pioneer breeding programs in South Carolina and on the West Coast of the United States focused on selecting dogs not only for low shedding but also high intelligence, emotional stability, and ease of training. Doodlove continues this tradition by importing genetic material from reputable American breeding programs.

Temperament
The Goldendoodle excels in various environments—from a city-center apartment to a house with a yard. Below are the most important characteristics described in the words of our adoptive families:
- Socially Friendly – greets guests with tail wagging and gladly makes contact with other dogs on walks.
- Easy to Train – the 'eagerness to please' inherited from the retriever + poodle intelligence = rapid progress in commands.
- Empathetic – senses human emotions; often chosen for therapy, working with autism, and PTSD support.
- Moderately Active – needs daily walks (60-90 min) but can settle down at home.
Coat Colors
We control coat color with MC1R and KIT testing for more accurate prediction of adult dog color. In our breeding, puppies have red and tuxedo colors.

Hair Types
Hair type (straight, wavy, curly) is controlled by the KRT71 gene test to predict adult dog hair structure. Additionally, we test the RSPO2 gene responsible for 'furnishings.' In our breeding, puppies have curly and wavy coats.

Questions and Answers
The Goldendoodle is a so-called hybrid breed—a combination of two breeds: golden retriever and poodle. Although not recognized by the FCI (International Cynological Federation), many countries have official Goldendoodle breeding registries, and the breed standard is already well-established. At Doodlove, we work exclusively with multigen dogs—from successive, carefully selected generations with predictable appearance, character, and health.
At Doodlove, we focus on Goldendoodles in mini size (9-15 kg / 20-33 lbs). This is the ideal size for families—a dog that's not too big for an apartment but still energetic and sociable.
F1 is the first generation (golden retriever × poodle). F1B is a cross between a Goldendoodle and a poodle. Multigen (multi-generational) is successive generations of Goldendoodles, combining the best breed characteristics and ensuring predictable appearance, character, and hair structure. At Doodlove, we breed exclusively multigen Goldendoodles—for stable traits and healthy, balanced dogs. Many cheaper listings concern F1, which often means large differences in hair type and temperament.
Goldendoodles have hair, not fur. This means they shed significantly less than most breeds. The amount of hair loss depends on individual characteristics and hair type (wavy or curly), but most of our dogs shed minimally.
Many people with allergies react well to contact with Goldendoodles. Their hair produces fewer allergens and less floats in the air. Each case is individual—before adoption, you can arrange a meeting or test in contact with an adult dog.
Our Goldendoodles come in shades of apricot, red, and tuxedo (characteristic white markings). Most often puppies have red or tuxedo coloring—colors that emphasize the elegant and unique appearance of the breed.
